Friends of Growing West Side Campaign

Community Participation is what makes                            Growing West Side so great!

We run almost entirely on volunteer power but we must ask for your financial support so we can continue to strengthen our commitment to our neighborhood by growing our education and outreach programing, increasing the number of gardeners we reach each year through our Seed Library and Beans on the Boulevard project, expanding the West Side Farmers Market and building our organizational capacity. Please make a financial contribution TODAY!!

runs a weekly farmers market on Saturday mornings that has become an inviting neighborhood gathering place for over 300 people a week. We bring in live music and activities every Saturday from June through October. We support local and first year farmers who have been able to take their passion for growing food and discover how they can create markets for  their goods too!14650313_1283487995028883_7344515418448434352_n

GROWING WEST SIDE is on the forefront of the seed library movement having created one of the first seed libraries in the state housed in a public library. We played an instrumental role in creating the first state law in the United States to protect seed libraries. This past year we shared over 700 packets of free vegetable and flower seeds to gardeners of all skill levels!

img_4624GROWING WEST SIDE partnered with the Riverview Library to  hold 15 classes during the 2016 growing season – everything from Maple Sugaring to Planting Garlic.  In addition we added 8 food preservation classes including jam making, fermenting, drying fruits and vegetables and canning tomatoes.  A weekly after school program at the library taught kids about starting seeds and growing vegetable and pollinator flowers and sent them home with starts to plant in their own gardens.

Please Make a Financial Contribution to Growing West Side Today!

Your dollars will help pay to promote GWS programing, for class supplies, and the printing of informational gardening handouts. It will increase the number of
musicians and performers at the Farmers Market, expand
our Market manager’s hours and enable
us to provide honorariums to our Skill Share and
urban gardening instructors.  All this and more!
To make a direct contribution to Growing West Side,

Thank you so much and welcome to  Friends of

Growing West Side!
